We Remember:

Charles Edward Daniels (October 28, 1936 – July 6, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his contributions to Southern rockcountry, and bluegrass music. He was best known for his number-one country hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia“. Daniels was active as a singer and musician since the 1950s. He was inducted into the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame in 2002 the Grand Ole Opry in 2008, the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009, and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

In the 60s & 70s AM & FM radio stations across the U.S.A.  weren’t restricted to playing only one type of music.

In any given hour you could hear: The Charlie Daniels Band – The Devil Went Down To Georgia, followed by Parliament Funkadelic – One Nation Under a Groove, AC/DC – Back in Black, and Prince – I Wanna Be Your Lover.

Growing up in Texoma this could be heard daily on great radio stations like:

KOMA-AM 1520 OKC

KQTZ-FM 105.9 Hobart, OK

KNTO-FM 103.3 & KNIN-AM 990/FM 92.9 Wichita Falls, TX

KSWO-AM 1380 & KLAW FM 101.5 Lawton, OK

Times may have changed, but not here on
